A variety of well stocked supermarket and hypermarkets are situated in Dubai which provide big amount of products from around the globe.The products are just the same but some sell them at a very high price and some sell them very cheaply but most of the people phychologicaly think that the higher priced products are of good quality but there is no such thing so don’t be fooled. Many expats and tourists have given there views about the carrefour, spinneys, choithram, LuLu, Geant, waitrose and hyper panda that these are very good super/hyper markets and should be approached by many other people too and these are also the most visited super/hyper markets by tourists and people thirsty for cheap but good products.
Almost all of the Dubai’s malls have a hypermarket or a supermarket and they are mostly located on the ground floor. You might have noticed that why does the mall stay opened for so late? This is because the super/hyper markets stay opened a bit longer than the other shops in the mall so the mall also stays opened.
Carrefour is a french retail group and has 6 huge hyper markets. It is a place to be visited many time and you just can’t get tired of it. Carrefour also has stores at the mall of emirates and at the city centre mirdif. Carrefour is also operating smaller markets at various places around Dubai.
LuLu also controls some hyper markets around Dubai and works hard to compete against other hyper markets. The stores famous amoung western expatriates are the spinneys stores which are widely known for their high quality produce. Al ghurair centre, souk al bahar, emirates hills, Dubai marina, internation city, Dubai silicon oasis and other various locations also have supermarkets. Another large supermarket is of choithram which also has a large presence in dubai.
The residential areas like jumeirah, karama, emirates hills, deira and other places like these are also containing small stores of choithram. The super market that was shipped from UK is waitrose and as it is from UK many of its products are from the united kingdom. It is famous for its foods and easy recipes. The most well knownd market is the hyper panda hypermarket. It is a saudi retailer and it sells almost 100,000 product every 6 months and is widely know in the western part of the world. Most of the expats and tourists like the hyper panda the most but they also like to visit the other super/hyper markets in Dubai.
Supermarkets do not sell beer, wines or any alcohal drinks. The only two companies licensed in Dubai to sell alcohal are MMI and african & eastern. Most of these shops are situated near the spinneys and if want to buy the alcohal beverages you need an alcohal license if you dont have a license it will be illegal to buy these beverages. although pork is illegal and is prohibited by islam people do eat and sell them in the parts where non-muslims reside.
